The Mercury Cougar was the sister car of the Ford Mustang and was introduced to the world in 1967. Basically, if you take a Mustang body and add some sequential taillights and hideaway headlights, you’ve got the start of a Mercury Cougar! Those exterior changes along with the split grill look, Mercury and Cougar emblems and different bumpers and more make these look different enough that a lot of people don’t even realize it’s the same platform. The exterior wears its original Trafalgar Blue paint and a set of Cragar SS wheels. The interior has black vinyl bucket seats, a center console, deluxe seat backs, seat belts and original AM radio. Perhaps the most exciting part of this car is that it came with the optional code 289 V8 engine. This bumped the horsepower from 200 to 225 with a 4-barrel carburetor. It is backed by an automatic transmission and 3.00 gears from the factory. Power steering makes this Cougar easy for anyone to drive. With some low production numbers, you will have plenty to talk about at car shows. Like how this 1967 Cougar is one of only 1,046 made in this color combination. Or how less than 1 in 5 received this engine and transmission combination. How about that only 3,637 hardtops of the 150,893 went to the Seattle DSO. With that in mind, you won’t likely run into another Cougar like this when you’re out showing it off around town.
